Our Mechanics are ASE-Certified — Here’s What That Means For You
When it’s time to choose an auto shop, you want to work with technicians you can trust. One way to ensure you’ve found quality auto mechanics? Look for shops with technicians that are ASE-certified. At Auto Correct, our auto mechanics all have their ASE certifications — here’s what that really means, and why you should care.
What are ASE Certifications?
ASE stands for the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence. Since 1972, ASE has tested and certified auto mechanics across the nation. ASE’s goal is to improve the quality of auto repair by ensuring technicians can perform their jobs to the highest standards.
How Auto Mechanics Become ASE-Certified
To get their ASE certifications, auto mechanics must have either two years of on-the-job training or one year of on-the-job training plus a two-year degree in automotive repair. Then, they take one or more tests on vehicle repair or a sub-specialty — ASE has 52 test options that include subjects like truck equipment, school buses, collision repair, and more, in addition to traditional auto repair. Auto mechanics have to renew their ASE certifications every five years to stay up to date on automotive tech.
Why ASE Certifications Matter
ASE certified mechanics have proven their expertise and dedication to their craft. Auto mechanics that are ASE certified are professionals who you can rely on. Additionally, working with certified mechanics ensures that they know the latest techniques and technology. Ultimately, it’s a marker that your vehicle will be in good hands.
